Geely is moving beyond its current 800-volt EV architecture to a 1,000-volt platform, aiming to close the gap between vehicle-side charging capability and the ultra-fast infrastructure it has already deployed. Since March, the group has installed more than 2,100 Zeekr charging points rated at up to 1,500 kW peak, but no production model can yet draw that much power. No technical details on the new architecture have been released so far.

Recent tests on the current Lynk & Co 01 illustrate the baseline Geely is building from. The saloon charged from 10 to 80 percent in 5 minutes 32 seconds, and to 97 percent in 8 minutes 42 seconds. At a Zeekr fast-charging station it briefly hit 1,100 kW peak power, versus 430 kW peak at a BYD Flash Charging Station. Despite reports of a 900-volt system, CarNewsChina calculates the 95 kWh battery's nominal voltage at 772.8 volts, putting it in the 800-volt class. As with any peak figure, sustained power over the full charging curve—governed by battery chemistry and thermal management—remains the more relevant engineering metric.

The move puts Geely in direct competition with BYD's 1,000-volt Super e-Platform, already in production in the Han L and Tang L EVs, which uses a redesigned Blade Battery rated for up to 10C charging and over 1,000 kW. CATL's upcoming second-generation Shenxing battery targets 1.3 MW charging. Geely is separately targeting solid-state batteries from 2027, with a top variant promising 500 Wh/kg energy density and ranges beyond 1,000 km.
