Hyperpilot has integrated its automated test-generation platform with dSPACE's Test Automation SDK, enabling engineering teams to produce test suites directly from requirements and deploy them unchanged across software-, hardware- and vehicle-in-the-loop setups. The move targets a growing bottleneck in vehicle software validation: with cars now running up to 150 ECUs and thousands of software units, single-unit test suites can reach tens of thousands of cases, and verification/validation already absorbs 30-50% of software development effort industry-wide.

Hyperpilot Studio generates tests as native dSPACE SDK executables, with parallel processing scaling output from hundreds to thousands of tests per minute. The company states a complete, traceable test suite for one control unit can be produced within minutes, and a full vehicle program's suite within days. Because tests can be regenerated automatically whenever requirements change, the workflow is designed to keep requirements, code and test cases synchronised rather than reworked manually in batches.

On the dSPACE side, the Test Automation SDK lets teams write and execute test cases in Python across SIL (Veos) and HIL (Scalexio) environments, using an abstraction layer so the same test logic runs on both platforms with configuration changes only, not rewrites. dSPACE has confirmed that further SDK development will be open source, opening the tool to community and partner contributions.

For engineering teams, the combination shifts manual effort away from writing and maintaining individual test cases toward reviewing coverage, evaluating edge cases and approving results—potentially allowing some outsourced test-development work to move back in-house.
